How Did IDfy Win the MeitY–NeGD DPDP Innovation Challenge?

Digital identity verification and trust platform IDfy has been named the winner of the Code for Consent: The DPDP Innovation Challenge, organised by the MeitY Startup Hub in collaboration with the National e-Governance Division (NeGD) under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).

The challenge evaluated consent management platforms on their technical capabilities, functional performance, and legal readiness through live demonstrations. It recognised solutions capable of supporting enterprise scale implementation of India’s Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act.

The recognition highlights IDfy’s growing role in helping enterprises prepare for the country’s evolving data privacy and consent management requirements.

What Is Privy by IDfy?

The award recognises Privy by IDfy, the company’s enterprise privacy and data governance platform, which is designed to help organisations manage consent, discover and classify sensitive data, and strengthen privacy compliance.

According to the company, the platform enables enterprises to build structured consent governance frameworks while supporting compliance with India’s DPDP Act. Its capabilities include data discovery, classification, consent lifecycle management, and enterprise privacy governance.

As businesses prepare for stricter data protection requirements, platforms such as Privy are expected to play an increasingly important role in helping organisations manage personal data responsibly.

How Widely Has Privy Been Adopted?

IDfy said Privy has already been deployed across more than 50 enterprises, collectively covering nearly 500 million users.

The platform has processed 70–80 million consent notices and serves organisations across multiple sectors, including:

  • Banking
  • Insurance
  • Fintech
  • Telecom
  • E-commerce
  • Other regulated industries

The company says this large scale adoption demonstrates the platform’s ability to support enterprise grade privacy operations while helping organisations prepare for compliance with India’s new data protection regulations.

Why Is This Recognition Significant?

India’s Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act is expected to reshape how businesses collect, process, store, and manage personal data.

As organisations move toward compliance, demand is increasing for technology platforms that can simplify consent management, privacy governance, and regulatory reporting.

Winning the MeitY–NeGD DPDP Innovation Challenge positions IDfy among the companies developing solutions to support enterprise implementation of the country’s evolving privacy framework.

The recognition also reflects increasing government focus on encouraging indigenous technology platforms capable of supporting large-scale digital governance initiatives.

What Comes Next for IDfy?

With growing enterprise adoption and recognition from a government-backed innovation challenge, IDfy is expected to continue expanding Privy across regulated industries where data privacy and consent management have become business-critical.

The company believes stronger consent governance, data visibility, and privacy management will become essential as organisations prepare for full implementation of the DPDP Act.
