Maruti Suzuki India reported its highest-ever monthly sales in May 2026, with total dispatches rising 34.76% year-on-year to a record 242,688 units.

The company had sold 180,077 units during the same month last year. The strong performance was driven by robust domestic demand, growing utility vehicle sales, and a sharp increase in exports.

The latest figures mark a significant milestone for India’s largest passenger vehicle manufacturer as it continues to strengthen its market leadership amid rising automobile demand.

How Strong Was Maruti Suzuki’s Domestic Performance?

Domestic sales reached an all-time high of 193,535 units in May 2026, compared to 138,690 units in the corresponding month last year.

The growth was broad-based across multiple vehicle segments, reflecting healthy consumer demand in both urban and rural markets.

Sales to other OEMs stood at 7,239 units during the month, adding to the company’s overall dispatch volumes.

Which Vehicle Segments Drove Growth?

Entry-level vehicles posted one of the strongest growth rates during the month. Sales of mini cars, including Alto and S-Presso, surged to 16,275 units from 6,776 units a year ago, reflecting renewed demand in the affordable car segment.

The compact car portfolio, which includes popular models such as Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Ignis, Swift, and WagonR, recorded sales of 81,555 units compared to 61,960 units in May 2025.

Utility vehicles continued to remain a major growth engine for the company. Sales of models including Brezza, Ertiga, e Vitara, Fronx, Grand Vitara, Invicto, Jimny, Vitara and XL6 climbed to 79,267 units from 54,899 units during the same period last year.

Industry analysts note that SUVs and utility vehicles remain among the fastest-growing categories in the Indian passenger vehicle market.

How Did Commercial Vehicles And Vans Perform?

The company also recorded growth in its van and commercial vehicle segments.

Sales of the Eeco van increased to 13,240 units in May 2026 from 12,327 units a year earlier.

Meanwhile, sales of the Super Carry light commercial vehicle rose to 3,198 units from 2,728 units during the corresponding month last year.

The performance indicates continued demand from small businesses and commercial operators.

What About Exports?

Maruti Suzuki’s export business also delivered strong growth.

The company exported 41,914 units in May 2026, compared with 31,219 units in May 2025.

The increase highlights Maruti Suzuki’s growing international footprint and its expanding role as a manufacturing and export hub for global markets.
