Molbio Diagnostics Shares List At 21% Premium In Strong Market Debut

Molbio Diagnostics made a strong debut on the stock exchanges on Monday, with its shares listing at a 21.44% premium over the initial public offering (IPO) price, reflecting robust investor interest in the diagnostics company.

The shares opened at Rs 980 apiece on both the NSE and BSE, compared with the IPO issue price of Rs 807 per share.

The strong listing came after significant demand for Molbio Diagnostics’ Rs 939.7 crore IPO, which was subscribed approximately 70.27 times during the issue period from August 10 to August 12.

Molbio IPO Sees Strong Investor Demand

Molbio had fixed the price band for its public issue at Rs 768-807 per share, with the upper end of the range used to determine the final issue price.

The IPO comprised a fresh issue of Rs 200 crore, while the remaining Rs 739.7 crore was offered for sale by existing shareholders.

The company had set a lot size of 18 shares. At the upper price band of Rs 807, retail investors were required to invest a minimum of Rs 14,526 to subscribe to one lot.

The high subscription level indicated strong demand from investors ahead of the company’s stock market debut.

Truenat Platform Drives Molbio’s Business

Molbio Diagnostics is known for its Truenat platform, a point-of-care molecular diagnostics system designed to test for multiple diseases.

The company follows a business model in which diagnostic devices are deployed at healthcare facilities, while recurring revenue is generated through the sale of test kits used with the machines.

According to the company’s IPO documents, Molbio had commercialised 30 diseases and 42 assays through its platform.

The model provides the company with a recurring revenue stream linked to the continued use of its diagnostic systems across healthcare facilities.

Financial Performance Improves

Molbio has also reported growth in its financial performance ahead of the listing.

The company’s revenue increased to approximately Rs 1,455 crore in FY26, while its profit after tax stood at around Rs 164 crore.

This compared with a profit after tax of Rs 139 crore in FY25, indicating continued improvement in profitability.

The company’s financial performance, combined with its diagnostics technology platform, helped generate investor interest during the IPO.

Listing Beats Grey Market Expectations

Molbio’s actual market debut was also stronger than expectations indicated by the grey market ahead of listing.

Before the stock market debut, Molbio’s grey market premium (GMP) was around Rs 120, implying an expected listing price of approximately Rs 927 against the IPO price of Rs 807.

However, the shares opened at Rs 980, significantly above the grey-market indication and delivering a 21.44% premium to IPO investors.

The stronger-than-expected listing suggests that demand for the stock remained firm despite the relatively elevated subscription levels already seen during the IPO.

Molbio Market Capitalisation Crosses Rs 11,600 Crore

Following the strong debut, Molbio Diagnostics’ shares continued to trade above the listing price.

At 10:51 AM, the stock was trading at around Rs 1,008.40 per share, giving the company a total market capitalisation of approximately Rs 11,628 crore, or around $1.22 billion.

The market debut marks an important milestone for Molbio as it enters the listed market and looks to build on its diagnostics business and Truenat platform.

The strong listing also places the company among the recent IPOs that have attracted substantial investor interest, particularly in India’s growing healthcare and diagnostics sector.
