How Much Have Commercial LPG Prices Increased?
Commercial LPG users across India will have to pay more from June 1 after state-run oil marketing companies increased the price of 19-kg commercial LPG cylinders.
According to revised rates announced by Indian Oil Corporation, the price of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder in Delhi has been raised by ₹42 to ₹3,113.50 from ₹3,071.50.
In Kolkata, the increase is even steeper, with commercial LPG cylinder prices rising by ₹53.50 to ₹3,255.50.
The revised prices have come into effect immediately from June 1.
Are Domestic LPG Cylinder Prices Also Increasing?
Households can breathe easy for now, as there has been no change in domestic LPG cylinder prices.
The latest revision applies only to commercial LPG cylinders used by restaurants, hotels, small businesses, food vendors and industrial establishments.
Additionally, the price of a 5-kg Free Trade LPG (FTL) cylinder has been increased by ₹11, taking its retail price in Delhi to ₹821.50.
Why Are Commercial LPG Prices Important?
Commercial LPG serves as a critical fuel source for a wide range of businesses, particularly restaurants, catering services and food outlets.
An increase in commercial LPG prices can raise operating costs for businesses, which may eventually translate into higher prices for consumers across several sectors.
The latest hike comes as businesses continue to navigate fluctuating energy costs and input price pressures.
What Is The Government Saying About Fuel Availability?
The price revision comes shortly after the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas reassured consumers about the country’s fuel security.
Speaking during an inter-ministerial briefing, Sujata Sharma said the government is actively working to strengthen strategic fuel reserves and ensure uninterrupted energy supplies.
She stated that oil marketing companies have been asked to maintain a minimum LPG reserve equivalent to 30 days of demand. The government is also expanding efforts related to crude oil strategic reserves to safeguard against potential supply disruptions.
Is There Any LPG Supply Shortage In India?
According to government officials, there is currently no shortage of LPG or other petroleum products in the country.
Authorities have also indicated that measures are being taken to prevent hoarding and ensure smooth availability across markets.
The government’s focus remains on maintaining adequate reserves while strengthening India’s long-term energy security framework.
What Does The Price Hike Mean For Businesses?
The latest increase is expected to directly impact restaurants, hotels, cloud kitchens and other commercial users that rely heavily on LPG for daily operations.
While the ₹42 increase may appear modest on a per-cylinder basis, businesses consuming multiple cylinders every month could see a noticeable rise in fuel expenses.
Market participants will now closely watch future pricing decisions by oil marketing companies amid global energy market fluctuations and geopolitical developments affecting fuel supply chains.
