Skydo Gets GIFT City And RBI Cross-Border Payment Licences

Skydo Becomes Among First Fintechs To Secure GIFT City PSP Licence

Skydo has secured in-principle approval to operate as a Payment Service Provider (PSP) at GIFT City International Financial Services Centre, marking a major milestone for the company’s global payments expansion strategy.

The approval makes Skydo one of the first cross-border fintech companies in India to receive a GIFT City licence focused on international financial services and payment infrastructure.

The development significantly strengthens Skydo’s position in India’s rapidly growing cross-border payments ecosystem as businesses increasingly seek faster, transparent and compliant global payment solutions.

GIFT City Access To Strengthen Global Payment Infrastructure

GIFT City IFSC has been designed as a globally aligned financial ecosystem focused on international financial services, fintech innovation and cross-border business infrastructure.

According to Skydo, the approval will allow the company to expand capabilities such as multi-currency collections, e-money accounts and merchant acquisition services.

The company also plans to build additional payment corridors for Indian businesses operating internationally.

Industry experts believe GIFT City’s regulatory and financial framework could help fintech companies like Skydo create globally competitive payment and treasury products for Indian exporters and international businesses.

Over time, the company expects the approvals to support development of broader global financial products tailored for Indian businesses operating across multiple geographies.

RBI Approval Strengthens Outward Payment Capabilities

Apart from the GIFT City approval, Skydo has also received regulatory clearance under the Reserve Bank of India’s Payment Aggregator-Cross Border (PA-CB) framework to support outward international payment flows.

Earlier this year, the company had already secured final authorisation from the RBI to operate as a PA-CB platform for export payment collections.

With the latest approvals, Skydo will now be able to support both incoming and outgoing international payment requirements for Indian businesses.

This means businesses using Skydo can receive payments from overseas clients while also making payments to global vendors, software providers, service partners and international platforms through a compliant infrastructure.

Skydo Expands Presence Across Indian Export Ecosystem

Skydo said it currently serves more than 40,000 Indian businesses spread across over 50 cities and supports payment collections from more than 150 countries globally.

The company already enables exporters and businesses to collect payments in multiple currencies while offering local payment collection mechanisms for international customers.

According to the company, its platform focuses heavily on transparent pricing, lower transaction friction and faster settlement timelines for exporters and cross-border businesses.

Cross-Border Fintech Market Continues To Grow

India’s cross-border payments market has witnessed rapid growth over the past few years as exporters, SaaS companies, freelancers and global businesses increasingly look for efficient digital payment infrastructure.

Industry analysts believe regulatory approvals such as the GIFT City PSP licence and RBI PA-CB framework could become increasingly important for fintech companies operating in the international payments space.

Skydo said it plans to continue expanding its product portfolio, enter additional geographies and develop solutions for emerging cross-border payment use cases as global digital commerce continues growing.
