International Business Drives Growth as Eyewear Major Reports Rs 2,714 Cr Quarterly Revenue

Omnichannel eyewear company Lenskart reported a strong financial performance for the first quarter of FY27, with consolidated operating revenue rising 43% year-on-year to Rs 2,714 crore. The company also reported a sharp improvement in profitability, with net profit increasing nearly 3.7 times to Rs 228 crore during the quarter.

According to the company’s financial statements sourced from the National Stock Exchange (NSE), Lenskart had reported operating revenue of Rs 1,894 crore in Q1 FY26. The latest results highlight continued momentum across both its domestic and international businesses.

The company has been expanding its presence across multiple markets, and international operations emerged as one of the key contributors to its revenue growth during the quarter.

International Business Revenue Grows 64%

Lenskart’s international business recorded particularly strong growth during Q1 FY27.

Revenue from international markets increased 64% year-on-year to Rs 1,203 crore, compared with the previous year. The rapid expansion helped international operations become an increasingly important part of the company’s overall revenue mix.

At the same time, Lenskart’s India business continued to grow at a healthy pace. Revenue from the domestic market increased 31% year-on-year to Rs 1,531 crore during the quarter.

The performance indicates that Lenskart is maintaining growth across both its established Indian operations and its expanding international footprint.

Revenue Grows 8% Sequentially

On a sequential basis, Lenskart’s operating revenue increased approximately 8% during the quarter.

The company had recorded operating revenue of around Rs 2,517 crore in Q4 FY26. The sequential improvement reflects continued business expansion despite rising operating costs.

The company has been investing across retail, technology, employees, supply chain and international operations as it scales its omnichannel eyewear business.

Expenses Rise 35%

Lenskart’s strong revenue growth was accompanied by a significant increase in expenses.

The cost of materials remained the company’s largest expense during the quarter, accounting for more than 32% of total expenditure. Material costs increased 34% year-on-year to Rs 807 crore in Q1 FY27.

Employee-related expenses also increased significantly. Employee benefit costs rose 28% to Rs 599 crore, compared with Rs 466 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal year.

Finance costs and depreciation were among the other major expense categories during the period.

Overall, Lenskart’s total expenditure increased 35% year-on-year to Rs 2,484 crore during Q1 FY27.

Profit Jumps Nearly Fourfold

Despite the increase in expenses, Lenskart’s revenue growth outpaced its cost growth, significantly improving its bottom line.

The company reported a net profit of Rs 228 crore in Q1 FY27, compared with Rs 61 crore in Q1 FY26. This represents a year-on-year increase of nearly 3.7 times.

The stronger profitability was supported by a combination of higher revenue, international business growth and operating leverage.

With revenue growing 43% while expenses increased 35%, Lenskart was able to retain a larger portion of its incremental revenue as profit.

Major Investors Continue to Sell Stakes

Lenskart’s strong quarterly performance comes amid significant secondary share sales by some of its prominent investors.

In the latest transaction, MacRitchie Investments, backed by Temasek, sold a 2.05% stake in Lenskart for approximately Rs 1,940 crore, or around $204 million.

Earlier, Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA), through its investment vehicle Platinum Jasmine A 2018 Trust, sold a 2.3% stake in the company for approximately Rs 1,960 crore.

SoftBank also sold a 3.25% stake in Lenskart for around Rs 2,873 crore.

Despite these stake sales, the company’s latest financial performance points to continued growth in revenue and profitability.

Lenskart Market Capitalisation Crosses Rs 1 Lakh Crore

Lenskart’s strong financial performance has also been reflected in its stock market valuation.

At the end of the latest trading session, Lenskart shares closed at approximately Rs 585, giving the company a market capitalisation of around Rs 1.01 lakh crore, or approximately $10.7 billion.

The Q1 FY27 results mark a strong start to the fiscal year for Lenskart, with the company simultaneously expanding its international business, growing its domestic operations and significantly improving profitability.

As the eyewear company continues to scale its omnichannel network, its ability to sustain international growth while maintaining improving margins will remain a key factor for investors.
